Hotel history

Our building goes back to the pre-Fascist age. Evidence of this assumption is given by the adjoining seat of the Cooperativa Ischia Barche (Ischia Boats Cooperative) located in a masonry cabin built in 1932 by the then Fascist Regime as telegraph office. At that time there was the basic structure of the Hotel that was used as fishing boat and tools shelter in the lower floors and as civil house for fishers in the upper floors. In the post-war period there was then the well-known tourist boom which transformed that building into an accommodation facility in 1951. The official opening took place in 1952.

Thermalism represented the first tourist exploitation on Ischia during the second half of 1800s being centred in the town of Casamicciola; after the II World-War Angelo Rizzoli fell in love with the town of Lacco Ameno and began promoting the whole island as an important tourist destination.

The Hotel Miramare e Castello can be rightfully considered one of the first accommodation facilities independently operating in the historical area of Ischia Ponte. After a 6-years-long full refurbishing the Hotel enjoyed its reopening as first-class 5-Star House in 1996.
